BOLETUS è il nome di una coppia di tavolini ideati per il concorso Agorà Design 2021. Il tema del concorso era “Eureka. L'attimo del progetto”. L’obiettivo di questo progetto è stato dare una nuova lettura a forme e materiali della tradizione per far emergere nuovi significati.
La prima referenza è la “capasa”, oggetto della memoria e della tradizione: l’utilizzo della ceramica per la base dei tavoli è un rimando alla società contadina ed anche ad una delle principali attività artigianali pugliesi, riconosciuta in tutto il mondo oltre che per la qualità e l’originalità, soprattutto per l’immaginario che evoca. La parte superiore è in legno di ulivo recuperato dalle piante abbattute vittime di Xylella. L'ulivo è un legno che non viene utilizzato normalmente, a parte per quanto riguarda gli stralci di potatura che vengono riutilizzati come legna da ardere. Oggi a causa degli abbattimenti causati dall'emergenza, c'è a disposizione del legno prezioso che può prendere nuove forme.
Il prototipo è stato realizzato grazie al coordinamento di realtà artigiane e contadine, in un lavoro a “quattro mani” tra Puglia e Lombardia. La finitura dell’ulivo è naturale, la base è in argilla rossa non smaltata.
BOLETUS is the name of a couple of coffee tables created for the Agorà Design 2021 competition: the theme was “Eureka. The moment of the project”.
The goal of this project was to give a new reading to the forms and materials of tradition to bring out new meanings.
The first reference is the “capasa”, an object of memory and tradition: the use of ceramics for the table base is a reference to rural society and also to one of the main Apulian handicraft activities, recognized throughout the world as well as for the quality and originality, especially for the imagination that evokes.
The upper part is in olive wood recovered from the plants killed victims of Xylella. The olive is a wood that is not normally used, apart from the pruning extracts that are reused as firewood. Today, because of the knocks caused by the emergency, there is precious wood that could take new forms.
The prototype was made thanks to the coordination of artisan and peasant realities, in a partnership between Puglia and Lombardy. The olive finish is natural, the base is in red clay not glazed.
